Former child star Mary Olsen was rushed to the emergency room of a New York hospital.

Mary-Kate Olsen was rushed to New York hospital on Monday to treat a kidney infection and should be released, according to hospital spokeswoman Nicole Caruso.

There are two types of kidney infections, both of which can be caused by a variety of infections, including bacterial infections. Treatment often consists of antibiotics.

This is not the first time Mary-Kate Olsen is facing serious health issues. Back in 2004 Mary-Kate checked into Utah's Cirque Lodge (Lindsay Lohan's rehab of choice) to be treated for

a "health-related issue", which later turned out to be anorexia, an eating disorder she has been battling for years.

Olsen, not to be confused with her sister Ashley who is "just friends" with Lance Armstrong, ended a 10-episode run on Showtime's "Weeds" the same day she was readily admitted to the hospital. On the show, she played Tara Lindman, a born-again Christian who rocks the world of Silas (Hunter Parrish), the elder teenage son of pot-dealing soccer mom Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker).

The 21-year-old actress recently wrapped shooting "The Wackness," in which she shares and on-screen kiss with Ben Kingsley.
