Sony announced at its press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention plans to turn the PlayStation 3 into a digital T.V. tuner and recorder with a new service due our early in 2008 called PlayTV. Sony will release a small digital tuner box that will enable PS3 users to simultaneously watch and record free-view T.V. on PlayTV.
Additionally, users will be able to transmit a signal to their PSP by Wi-Fi locally or by way of the Internet using Remote Connection allowing them to watch programs stored on their PS3 through their hand-held device. Sony has also announced 'Go!'; a new entertainment brand for PSP, also set to launch early next year. The Go! Video Download service will be the official video service for UK and Europe, allowing users to purchase and download videos direct to their PSP memory card via a wireless internet connection.
PSP owners will be able to swap messages on Go!Messenger for free by way of the Internet when in range of a Wi-Fi access point. The will also be able to enjoy video and voice calls using Go!Cam and their PSP at these same hot spots. And Sony said there is a lot more to come using the interconnectivity of the PS3 and PSP and the Internet.
