Microsoft Corp. said that it will have a full mobile web browser by sometime this year.

Microsoft Corp., in an attempt to compete with Apple's iPhone, said that it will have a full Web browser for Windows Mobile sometime this year. Apple has received great praise for the ability of the iPhone to display websites the way they would appear on a desktop computer.

Now Microsoft, not wanting to be left behind by Apple, said that its Windows Mobile browser will do the same thing while speaking at the CTIA, the annual U.S. mobile show. Microsoft said that it will make Internet Explorer available to phone makers during the third quarter of 2008 so that it can go into the pones going on sale by the end of the year.

Microsoft has been gaining some market share with its operating system in new smartphones, partly due to the computer-like features found in the new smartphone systems like email, and Web browsing, but there is still a great deal of competition from companies such as Research in Motion with the BlackBerry, Palm with the Treo, and Apple and the iPhone. This change in the browser should further Microsoft's gains in the market share.
